Sid and Adam (The Protectors Series) by Teresa Gabelman – Blog Tour #Review and #Giveaway
The Protectors series has really gotten me hooked! Ever since I was introduced to Damon, I just wanted more of those VC warriors because… well, what’s hotter than a group of vampire warriors and their always interesting partners? Hybrids, bad guys, lots of fighting, politics, you name it’s there, and it’s so interesting and different!
Renowned for his playboy lifestyle and wisecrack remarks, Sid Sinclair knows he is the last pick for the lead investigator of human/half-breed trafficking. Never one to play by the rules, Sid takes his new position seriously, but not without driving the leader of the VC Council and fellow Warriors crazy.
A human with a special gift, Lana Fitzpatrick’s life is complicated. When Sid Sinclair charges into her life, her complicated life becomes torturous; his charm and wit draws her in like no other. Having dealt with alpha men most of her life, she is a match made in heaven for the VC Warrior who thinks he is God’s gift to women.
As the world of vampires and humans try to coexist, Sid and Lana’s lives intertwine. It doesn’t take long before the sparks between the two fly and for them to realize they have both finally met their match.
I honestly was looking forward to Sid, as his sense of humor and predilection to annoy and anger everyone around him promised to make for a funny and interesting read. Sid did not disappoint and Lana, his love interest was a perfect choice for him. A cop that’s independent through and through and can also talk to the dead, well that’s enough to keep a big bad VC warrior occupied.
At the same time, the couples you already love from the previous books and those you will definitely explore in books to come add to the plot, keeping it action packed and always interesting. And it all leads to the same problem the Vampire Council has been trying to deal with: women who are abducted and turned into hybrid sex slaves.
Sid certainly stands out from the crowd of VC Warriors. He has a different personality and a very unique attitude in life. Lana will thoroughly drive him insane in her quest to save her sister, but hopefully he’s man enough to deal with her.
Half-breed vampire, Adam Pride, has an almighty chip on his broad shoulders. Trying to move on after finding Angelina married to another, Adam has a decision to make. Remove the chip and move on or kill the man who took what he wanted most in the world, his Angel.
With his heart in pieces, Adam’s on a mission to become the best VC Warrior he can be. It’s not long before fate steps in, turning his world and life as he knows it upside down. Shocking revelations will realign allegiances and draw the VC Warriors onto a new path. This journey is not Adam’s alone. Every Warrior, half-breed and human will be affected by what is to come. The unknown awaits. The battle has just begun.
Although Adam has been with me since the very first book, this was the one installment in The Protectors where I cared a lot more about the plot line than the love story between Adam and Angelina. I don’t know why I thought that after their abrupt ending Adam would meet someone else, I just did. Bringing Angelina back into his life actually works great with the plot and makes up for a beautiful story, so it’s just a weird preference of mine.
Adam is also more of a group thing. As events unfurl, with humans doing what they do best and acting out in fear, the trafficking ring still thriving, and couples, including Sid and Lana being put to test, this book is action packed and a true page turner. The VC Warriors and their families and friends come to realize they will be facing the greatest threat ever, with whispers of war and a repeat of a huge mistake in human history. I’d tell you more, but it’s better if you discover it in the book.
The one thing that really bugged me was the ghost from their past coming to visit. It was a nice touch, except for the Latin speaking and the use of the Warriors current names. No such name back then and I imagine the ghost would have used their original names. This is however the pet peeve of a girl who spent too much time with Latin in high school, so I took it as it was, a minor detail in an otherwise great book. Enjoy!
