Dylan Matthews lives in a world of fantasy. As a video game designer, there are no limits on how far or wide his imagination could stretch. He loves his work and excels at bringing the visions in his head to a game console. The luck of his Irish heritage seems to touch him when his prototype Zombie ApoXalypse is bought days after he inherits a mansion in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Life is indeed magical.

Ansleigh has waited centuries for one man, only to find him and then lose him due to his own inability to trust in their burgeoning love. The magick of Mother Earth flows within him and through him allowing him to nourish the Grotto where he makes his home. Yet, he yearns for the male that nurtures his soul. When the whims of Fate bring his Cosantoir back into his life, does he have the courage to accept his heritage?

As the fantasies in his head become reality and the monsters of nightmares crawl through the forest, can Dylan forgive broken promises to protect the Croi? There is no pause button when the Fae and human worlds collide. Will Dylan have what it takes to master the maze and win Ansleigh’s freedom?

The Vishous Effect

We’ve all done it. No shaming and naming here, but we have each and every one fallen hard and fast for a fictional character. Okay, maybe more than one of them. We even have jargon for it….book boyfriends. Right now, you are thinking of that certain male…or female (oh yeah there are some hawt, sexy, bad-assed fems out there too) that makes your heart stutter, your breath hitch and lower parts of you clench when you hear their names. I think from the title, some of you might know who mine is.

Vishous, son of the Bloodletter, the Brother with the unconventional tastes in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. I’ve been reading for pleasure since fourth grade. My favorite school day was the day we went to the library and I got new books. I’ve been reading a long time and I read voraciously. Any genre, any topic, doesn’t matter. Fiction or non-fiction, doesn’t matter. In all that time, no character has ever grabbed me by the throat quite like that intelligent, sexy, brooding…did I say sexy…vampire. He just makes me all sighing fangirl and horny she-devil all at the same time.

How bad…well let me just tell you. Vishous has specific tastes and not just in the bedroom.

1. Grey Goose. Vishous drinks it straight, and he drinks a lot of it. Until I read the BDB, I didn’t much care for hard liquor, and I had never tried vodka or anything else straight. I was the fruity umbrella drinker, anything to hide the alcohol. I took my first vodka shot…Grey Goose, of course, after a toast to Vishous. Let me say this. Burns. Like. Hell.

2. Tattoos. Vishous has tats on his right hand, groin and around his eye, warnings about how dangerous he is. And, he is a tattoo artist. He does all of the inking for the Brotherhood. This chick – is nowhere near dangerous unless you mess with my V.L. or our children and I used to be ink free. Not anymore. I have “Vishous” tatted on my ankle. The V is in the Old Language (from the books), because he goes by that abbreviation most of the time, and the rest of his name is written in script.

3. Boston Red Sox. Okay, I am a south Alabama girl. Football reigns supreme. It’s not a sport, or a religion…it’s a way of life. But now, I have to have my ESPN for the other great American sport…baseball and Big Papi. It even influenced my first indie published book, Grand Slam. Spencer plays for the BoSox minor league team.

4. The Escalade. No, I don’t have one. Bummer. But, my brother does. Black with chrome. I keep telling him he’s got my truck and needs to return it. I have to touch it every time we visit. Gawds forbid one pass me on the road. My mind immediately goes to V and the Cop going after the lessers. It’s so bad that even my kiddos will say “there goes V, you better catch him” when one passes us on the road. I want a Caddie. I wanna be like V.

5. Leather jacket, dagger and rap/hip hop music. Got it, have something very close and yeah I like some of it. Actually, the jacket belongs to one of my sons, but I commandeered it. It’s in my closet and eventually he’ll forget it’s there. Right? My other son bought me the dagger. Slim and sharp, it’s similar in shape to the one on the covers of the books, but the blade isn’t black. I love it. Abso love it. I listened to rap/hip hop music before the BDB. Two of my boys are fans so it wasn’t a huge jump to add V’s tastes to my collection of tunes.

6. V’s proclivities. Well, this wifey doesn’t kiss and tell. V.L. would definitely find the paddle if I did.

Okay, so by now you are all shaking your head at me. Except for the V-Addicts. We stick together. And, now ya know authors can go all fangirl crazy just like the readers. After all, authors are readers, too.

Yeah, I’m a bit off the rocker where V is concerned, but then I never claimed to be normal. That word seriously makes me shudder. I hope one day I have a character that affects readers the way V does his fans and me. That connection with readers is a treasure to find.

Alina darlin’ thank you for allowing me to take over your blog for the day. I’ve enjoyed visiting with you friends and fans.

Enjoy the pic…my fabulous sister-in-law took it for me. I have so got my V on and I loved it!
Wicked dreams and bondage blessings, true.
